first, in immediate news, pipit tried to make a break for it today. i opened the front door to come inside and while the door was still open, she bolted out into the lawn. i'm not sure what she was planning to do out there, but it appeared as though she'd been waiting by the door for hours, plotting her strategy until i got home. it almost worked. and she was not very happy with me for carrying her inside.
in other news, my niece is already 7 months old. however did this happen? i haven't seen her since march (or was it april?). either way, i'm eager to see her once i finish my thesis and get back to wisconsin/illinois. but here are some new photos of her. apparently, the dog (mandy, who i dearly love) is not sure what to think of allie. at first, she was very scared by all the crying and would run away (what is that thing?! that noisy thing?). then she realized that the crying works, so she began crying too. now she mostly smells allie. i think she misses having more attention. little does she know this kid will give her tons and tons of attention, her whole life through.
