there's not much exciting news in my life this week (homework, hot hot days--almost 80 degrees here still, good heavens, lots of mowing the lawn.)
but ever so exciting, my niece, in a matter of less-than-two-weeks has learned how to stand up, wave goodbye, clap and crawl. she's close to walking too, my parents think. who knew? all at once.
she's a pretty funny kid--before this, it looked like she thought about doing all these things, but was a little too lazy (why crawl when someone will eventually pick me up and move me?) my brother and sister-in-law were trying all sorts of things. they'd take her favorite toy and put it just a little too far for allie to reach. she'd look at the toy for a moment, reach forward, then sit back "not worth the effort." my kind of kid.
