another cat story

it's true: i'm becoming obsessed. & such a strange obsession: only nice cats, and thinnish ones. scrappy ones.

we went to chicago last week. as we went to walk in the hotel, we noticed a cat (or maybe big kitten) sitting by the door, it's eyes all squinty, trying to keep warm by the short bursts of heat that would come out of the building when people would leave or enter. it was so sad: i was convinced we should hide this kitten in a coat, and take him to our room. but, we didn't.

and then, for two days, every time we came and left, we saw the kitten, huddling by the door. it was awful, like 10 degrees outside--but he never came in. Unfortunately, nowhere was open (animal shelter) to take a cat on christmas.

then, as soon as i got home, my life started becoming bombarded with cat commercials and people who love cats. in one commercial, this man adopts a tiny white kitten. at first the kitten hides from him, but gradually begins to love him: it's the sappiest cat commercial in the universe, and i still found myself thinking, oh...what a nice man, oh...what a nice kitten.

it's ridiculous, but true. i want a cute scrappy likeable cat.

Awww....that makes me want to go get that kitten myself. Maybe I will email Ernie's brother and see if he wants to swing by and see if it's still there.

Not ridiculous! Cats are amazing little creatures! Too bad you couldn't have adopted that little white kitty in Chicago - if only I'd been there with you, you (or I) would now be the proud owner of a new kitten (I can't not help the little furry buggers)!
