hey my friends--i'm finally back to the blogging world, after a crazy, eventful and great summer, including travels to Norway, Latvia, New York, Philly, Illinois & Wisconsin, then a cross country drive back to the West...whew! i also got to see a bunch of my favorite people, including, but not limited to: sara & sarah, jenny, lucas & matt, kristin, kristen, rach, megan, daniel & liz, vlz...and that's not even including norway & latvia. so, perhaps i'll do some writing about all these things, including one near-death experience (or as near as i've ever come, at least), but i'll hold off on that for now, labor day weekend.
instead, the immediate: running. finally, this morning i took my first ten-mile run of the season. i'm completely out-of-shape, but it was such a great time. there's really no feeling like an early-morning run. the sun and shade mixing on the blacktop, passing horse farms (yes: in the suburbs! this is a crazy place) and golf courses and tons and tons of friendly old people, who all said things like, "wow, young lady, you're up early" or "great day for a run." it was like my own cheering section.
i've decided, if i'm going to run the chicago marathon, this is the year. (i say this now--when the marathon is still 6 weeks away...we'll see a little closer.) but, i have a few advantages: 1.) the altitude (my runs are at 7000 feet)--it will be really something to come down and run at sea level. 2.) i don't have any classes in the mornings this semester (how crazy?) and my morning job hasn't started yet, so I have time. it's just a matter of priorities. 3.) my social life has certainly improved since when i moved here (i'm actually beginning to love some things & people out here), but that said, i still have a lot more open time than i did in the midwest. finally, 4.) the marathon would be a great excuse to get back to illinois for a few days--i absolutely love chicago in the fall. unbeatable.
if anyone wants to join me and run the marathon, let me know! i'd love some company.

That's exciting! Ernie's brother, Peter, is running the marathon this year and we're going down with the fam to watch him. Keep us posted on if you go ahead with it! It would be fun to see you off. I don't know if Peter needs a running buddy, but that would be fun! :)
hey! i'm glad to see you wrote! wish you were around so i could invite you over! :)
How in the world do you just up and run 10 miles when you're "out of shape". Sickening ;) I can't run a block.
I'm glad you're back on the blogging saddle again :)
Did you run the marathon? Has it been six weeks? Can you post again soon please? Keep us updated - stay on the bandwagon :)
